    construction of a Cold Rolling Complex are noteworthy among the biggest recent projects The 5 000 mm Plate Mill is the key element in the construction of the MMK s plate production complex The mill is designed for manufacturing cost effective mill products heavy gauge plate up to 4 850 mm wide for the oil and gas sector ship building bridge engineering and machinery construction The 5 000 mm Plate Mill has an annual production capacity of about 1 5 million tons The 5 000 mm Plate Mill came into operation in July 2009 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin attended the commissioning of MMK s new mill and highly praised the new facility As a result of this project MMK obtained great flexibility in terms of production of high specification hot rolled stock and plate mill products using state of the art metal forming technologies Another large scale investment project under implementation at MMK is construction of a state of the art Cold Rolling Complex The primary function of the workshop under construction is manufacturing high quality cold rolled and galvanized steel using the most advanced technologies for outer and inner auto parts production as well as household appliances production

    tank production plant became one of the main weapons manufacturing arsenals that produced 18 000 tanks and self propelled machines 48 500 tank diesel engines and 17 7 million military ammunition sets for the warfront The plant produced 13 types of new tanks and SP artillery vehicles and 6 tank diesel engine types In spite of the availability of an incomplete set of documents the plant started the production of T 34 tanks within a 33 day period In order to perform the task given by the State Defense Committee the plant started to produce the totally new JS Joseph Stalin heavy tanks The primary tank attributes of armor speed and ammunition were well balanced in those war machines developed at the Tankograd Design Bureau In addition to thicker armor more powerful guns and better maneuverability the weight of the JS tanks was almost 10 tons less than that of the German heavyweights To produce heavy tanks an assembly line was established for the first time in the global tank construction practice During the war the enterprise staff was awarded 33 times with the State Defense Committee s Red Banner for victory in the All Union competition The ChTZ staff
